THE GCHSCHL TURNS 10 YEARS OLD
The Greater Columbus High School Club Hockey League (GCHSCHL) enters its 11th season of providing a high school hockey outlet for student/athletes in central Ohio. Established in 1998, the league has continually gone through changes as ice hockey has developed in the greater Columbus area. The GCHSCHL is an inclusive organization that provides players not attending a school with a sanctioned Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) hockey team an opportunity to compete at the competitive high school hockey level. The goal of the league is to provide as many qualified high school-aged players as possible an opportunity to play high school hockey. Please take a look around the new site and check back often as this site will evolve (much like the GCHSCHL itself) as your number one source for high school hockey in Columbus Ohio.

2009 BUCKEYE CUP STATE CHAMPIONS
NEWARK GENERALS
This weekend (3/6-3/8) the 5th annual Buckeye Cup Ohio High School Club Hockey State Championship Tournament was hosted by the Greater Columbus High School Club Hockey league (GCHSCHL) in Columbus. The Buckeye Cup Championships feature the top four teams in the GCHSCHL representing Columbus against the top four best from Cleveland (North Coast High School Hockey League - NCHSHL) and Cincinnati (Cincinnati High School Hockey League - CHSHL). This year the GCHSCHL was represented by the Newark Generals, PRPC Ice Prowlers, Hilliard/SW Wildcats and Northeast Storm.
Congratulations to the Newark Generals who brought home the GCHSCHL's second Buckeye Cup Ohio High School Club Hockey State Championship. The Generals completed the rare triple crown this season by winning the GCHSCHL Regular Season Championship, the GCHSCHL Blue Jackets Cup Championship and now the Buckeye Cup Ohio High School Club Hockey State Championship. Newark went a perfect 5-0 in the tournament, defeating Rocky River Buccaneers 3-0, the Lakota West Firebirds 8-2 and the Lakewood Rangers 9-0 in the preliminary round to advance to the Championship round.
In the Final Four the Generals defeated the 2007 Buckeye Cup Champions Lakota West Firebirds 5-4 before advancing to the Finals to face off again against the GCHSCHL's PRPC Ice Prowlers. The Prowlers, playing in an unprecedented 5th Buckeye Cup tournament, had advanced to the Finals for the first time in their club's history after a 2007 Final Four finish. In a hard fought contest, the Generals prevailed 4-1 to bring home their first State Title and cap off the perfect season.
Congratulations Newark Generals
